Writing Content for Our Audience

SEO is a term I mentioned a few posts ago, it truly is a buzz word at the moment. I came across the term SEO Copywriting. One I hadn't heard much of before and so of course I went to learn a little more about it and revisit some keywords we've come across before.

Like we established in the earlier SEO, the acronym for Search Engine Optimisation, is the process of optimising your website to generate organic traffic to your site from the search engine page. Copywriting is the quality writing that persuades, convert and sell.

Neil Patel, who I mentioned in the last SEO post mentions 6 key elements of SEO copywriting:

SITE SPEED - Attention spans of individuals isn't very long, if a site takes more than 2 seconds to load (the average load time for sites), users will leave with bad user experience. Improving site speed can be a defining factor of how long a user stays on your site, Patel offers a few tools that you can use to measure and improve your site speed.

HEADLINE - You don't want your headline to hold back the value of your content. A headline should attract attention and then entice the reader to click though. A tip from Patel: for your whole headline to be visible in the search engine results, keep it under 72 characters.

CONTENT - Before writing your content, consider your audience. Your content needs to be compelling and fresh, so it could be helpful to update your site frequently. Keep in mind how often you use your keywords, try to avoid over using or 'stuffing' your keywords.

META DESCRIPTION - Help engines and searchers understand the content of your page. Keeping it short and simple. Summarise the content, include your keywords and keep it under 150 characters (including spaces).

ree

KEYWORD FREQUENCY - The number of times your keyword appears on the page. Although this method may be deemed not as effective as it once was, it can still be helpful. Just as long as the words aren't overused.

PAGE LINKS - Help build your page by offering your audience access to useful content. This new content can be yours or of another reliable source, just make sure it is relevant, appropriate and more in-depth.

So these are the 6 elements that Patel discussed that I found interesting. Although similar to the SEO post I made a while ago, which you can click here to see. I think these points Patel made about copywriting can still be beneficial to businesses to gain better understanding on effectively communicating the right information to the right audience.

Thank you for reading and I hope you are staying safe and healthy :)

Thank you so much for reading! I definitely agree, there are a lot of factors that go in to making a successful site. Somethings that may go without consideration if we don't pay enough attention to it.

Another interesting piece! Great work Shashika. I'm not someone who is in the marketing space but your work is definitely helpful and easy to understand for anyone who is looking to optimise the marketing of their businesses or industries.

Neil Patel's 6 elements are definitely spot on. There are a lot of factors that go into making websites easily accessible and pop-out to people, and in doing so can help businesses get the attention they need.

Keep up the good work!
