Virtual Experiences?

Hi! Hope you are well!

While spending my time at home and facing the challenge of finding new employment opportunities, I challenged myself to take on some virtual experiences. Although this is very different to the practical experience of actually working in the industry, I think I gained a lot from the experience. I thought I'd share a little about this experience for this week's post.

There were some advantages of being able to take on these virtual experiences, these being that I could complete these programs in the comfort of my home as well as having flexibility to take part in it around my studies. I was able to complete 2 virtual experiences via www.insidesherpa.com.

The first virtual experience I completed was the 'Design and Branding' virtual internship that was for the Sydney based company 'Sydney Romantics'. It consisted of 4 modules involving; Branding and Authenticity, Product Design and Craft, Digital Marketing and Community Building. Overall this experience was super fun, from creating and developing mood boards, to trying my best to make mock ups with the limited resources I had. I very much enjoyed this virtual internship experience!

The second experience was the BCG Virtual Experience Program. This was more of a theory based program involving 2 modules; Strategic Design and Experience Design. Where I had to build up a research method for the given task and then had to develop a persona profile from the information collected. This program allowed me to apply skills I am currently learning in my degree this year, which was very exciting and engaging!

This experience was definitely different from the 'Sydney Romantics' task, however it gave me insights as to where my interests lie in the marketing world and they both gave me opportunities to apply my knowledge and gain new understanding through the model example work they provided to draw comparisons from and further improve my work.

For anyone who may be interested in something similar, InsideSherpa offers a range of virtual experiences (I'm definitely going to tackle another one very soon!) to gain insight to career paths like data analysing to more creative and inventive projects. They offer you the programs with the kinds of activities graduate students would be engaging in. I definitely recommend having a look, even if it's to gain a new skill.

Thank you for reading :)

Stay safe!
