It is so hard to have an effect on your audience when every search someone makes is bombarded with all types of links and search results. So, what can you do to make your business one of the top search results?
Let's have a look!
Neil Patel, recognised by The Wall Street Journal as a top influencer on the web, explains in this video 3 TOP TIPS to rank number 1 in Google.
Now if you didn't actually click on the video to have a look, I'll give a little breakdown as to what he was talking about.
To begin let's start with the term SEO. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), optimising your website to receive organic traffic to your site from a search engine page. This can be challenging seeing how competitive it is for business in this very tech savvy society.
So what are the tips Patel suggests in his video?
1. Focus on your content
Create your content without leaving any gaps for questions. Provide your audience with a site that makes them think "This is the end all site". Like a one stop shop, don't leave them with room to look for answers elsewhere.
2. Optimise your title tag and meta description
When you make a search on Google, you'll see something that looks a little like this:

Have your keyword in your title and description but it important to still make it appealing to attract your audience to actually click. Develop a title and description that evokes curiosity and is intriguing to your audience.
3. Use Google Search Console
Google has offered a tool that teaches you to rank number one on Google! How awesome is that! It's free and right at your fingertips. This tool provides you with analytics, it even tells you how many see your listing and click through and how many who don't click through. Just give it a few days to curate data.
I think Patel's tips are great. Yes, I know everyone gets told about focusing on making good quality content. But the idea of, as Patel says "poke holes in your content and fill them up",
sounds good. That analogy stuck with me, because it is right, sometimes you'll visit a website for certain information and not find exactly what you need because those holes weren't filled up. Same with the title and description tip, yes it's important to have a engaging title but even for me, I never thought of it from the point of view of search engine results. Even the the fact that we have Google search console, a free tool for us to use?! That's something new I learnt today.
So, these are the 3 TOP TIPS Neil Patel offers to help you become the top search result on Google. What are your thoughts on Patel's tips? Anything you would do differently?

Great post! I really enjoyed your blog and its so informative! The Patel tips are really helpful, I did not know about Google Search Console until I read it. The tittle tag and meta depiction is really helpful for a business when making search on Google it clearly show what a business have and by using it to attract customer. I always search things on Google and the first thing I will look at the tittle and the description first.
I never realised how grateful I am for Google! There has been so many times I have found what I am looking for just from keywords! It's so important to make sure your content is relevant to the consumer or it will just be lost in a pool of similar websites! Great read!
I know right, Patel has great understanding. And you are definitely right! All these actions of developing these techniques and such are for the ultimate goal of meeting needs and creating value for the audience.
Patel's tips are amazing! I've actually read some of his work for another assignment I am doing and it is really helpful. Content is what consumers are looking for, so no matter if you get the consumer to visit your website, if the content isn't there then they will just forget your brand and look for someone who meets their needs and creates value. Businesses need to realise consumers may not realise what website they are pressing, as they look at the keywords so changing their meta description can help pre existing consumers who had previously visited the website give an incentive to go onto their page.
Thank you Meshanah! I know right, I had no idea either until Neil spoke of it. Ah! Good idea with the embedding of links, with that example of a small restaurant business. I think that could be an effective addition to the 3 tips.
