Living in unpredictable circumstances is difficult. Difficult for communities, place of work and learning and many businesses. Businesses can find it hard to stay relevant during these times of these businesses I thought would be interesting to look at is the cinema industry.

Let's delve a little deeper into the cinema, specifically behind the counter to the glorious assortment of snack that catch you eye while you line up to buy your ticket. I want you picture a classic dessert you would buy to snack on while you watch your movie.

I'm hoping you thought of a classic CHOC TOP. If you didn't, I'm going to have to ask you to think of a CHOC TOP. Which some describe as the best part of the entire experience at the cinemas.

You know, the ice-creamy goodness dipped in chocolate? Did you ever think of how you could never really find these treats anywhere other than at the cinema. They weren't at the Milk Bar down the road, in your school canteen or in your local Coles.

Well that is until now. Because of the changes to the use of public places like the cinema, Choc Tops were made available for purchase in Coles (past tense as this is no longer available in store) . Allowing individuals and families to still be able to experience the authentic cinema treat in the comfort of their homes. Not to mention at the fraction of the price.

I personally think this was an incredible idea for the brand, finding a new channel of providing their delicious product. Allowing the Choc Top brand to continue to stay relevant, adapting their initial business plan to the changes happening in the world around them.

The way a brand adapts to changes in

society can tell a lot about how well a brand will stand among competition and how long they can remain a successful brand for. For a brand like Choc Top by Bulla, the adaptability has allowed the brand to maintain popularity and relevancy over the many year selling at the cinema and even during a pandemic.

What are you thoughts on Bulla's actions with Choc Top? Can you think of any other brand that have shown great or poor adaptability?

Thanks for reading :)

Another very interesting article Shashika. Personally I never was a fan of the overpriced Choc Tops and I couldn't really tell this difference between them and other chocolate covered ice cream.

But, I do have to agree that the way Bulla went about making the ice cream relevant again even though Covid-19 has stopped people from going to the cinema was clever.

Also, labelling something as "limited time only", really creates a sense of urgency in people and great well to sell the product fast.

Keep up the great work,

Looking forward to your next article 😊.
